WUHU, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- Chery Group outlined its vision for the next phase of global growth at the Chery International User Summit 2026 held recently, highlighting its commitment to families, localisation, electrification and future mobility technologies as it strengthens its position as one of the world's leading automotive groups.
Speaking before guests from around the world, Zhang Guibing, Executive Vice President of Chery Automobile Co Ltd. said the company's success has been built on a long-term commitment to understanding and serving customers across global markets, rather than pursuing volume alone.
"Different brands within the Chery Group serve different customer segments and fulfil different roles. For the Chery brand, our direction remains clear, creating products and technologies that serve families and deliver meaningful value to our customers," said Zhang.
Chery's global growth continues to gain momentum. In the first half of 2026, the Group ranked ninth globally with sales of 1.36 million vehicles, while maintaining its position as China's leading passenger vehicle exporter for 23 consecutive years.
Chery also ranks among the leading players across both left-hand-drive (LHD) and right-hand-drive (RHD) markets. The company's New Energy Vehicle (NEV) business, driven by plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs), recorded a 145% year-on-year increase between January and September 2026.
According to Zhang, Chery Group's achievements are the result of decades of investment and a consistent focus on staying close to customers. Having operated for 25 years across more than 130 markets and serving over 7.4 million users worldwide, the automotive company continues to prioritise understanding customer expectations and responding to local market needs.
A key component of Chery Group's international strategy is localisation. Zhang revealed that locally assembled vehicles accounted for 41% of the Group's overseas operations in 2025, with the figure projected to rise to 70% by 2027. This growth is supported by Chery's global manufacturing, local integration approach, which combines advanced manufacturing technologies, green energy initiatives, local talent development and cooperation with local partners.
To further strengthen its competitiveness, Chery is expanding its global research and development capabilities. The company is working towards establishing 26 overseas R&D centres, up from 16 previously, including facilities in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Spain and Germany. These centres will support local market development while providing deeper insights into customer preferences and mobility requirements across regions.
Looking ahead, Chery is investing strongly in future technologies that will support smarter and more sustainable mobility. Among its upcoming initiatives is the rollout of Hyper Second Charging (HSC) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technologies beginning in 2027, with planned deployment in markets including the United Kingdom, Spain and Thailand.
While robotics technologies from Chery’s AiMOGA are expected to play a greater role across commercial services, healthcare, intelligent public services, home assistance, manufacturing and other real-world applications.
